The Project

D.I.Why is a game where you assemble various objects to imitate props. You look for a job, find anything to recreate, then submit your order trying your best to recreate their request. Unlock more supplies with crates, each catered toward a specific set to help you create your imitation masterpiece.

What I Did & Creative Approach

I did a majority of the programming, making the grabbing, glue, and core gameplay systems. My primary creative challenge was visual communication, allowing the player to easily consume and understand the elements of the game. The main challenge in making this game was tuning the difficulty and scoring to maximize player enjoyment with the only external element was music from a pre-owned asset pack.

What I Learned

This project really reinforced the importance and power that a small tightly executed idea can have. I think that we were able to achieve a good amount of polish but could still improve next time by scoping more time for general readablity and understanding for the player. Overall, I am really proud of what we managed to achieve within the short timeframe.

Why I did this project

We made this for a game jam because we really wanted to explore a fun and simple idea. It was an exercise in building on a simple concept and stretching it into a fun humorous experience and I think we executed it really well.
